Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Estimating Department and allocate appropriate resources, including staff, tools, and software.
  • Oversee Senior Estimators, including conducting performance reviews.
  • Manage and be accountable for the reimbursement of estimating staff and costs.
  • Help manage and maintain strong subcontractor relationships
  • Analyze and determine the cost of the pursuit of opportunities.
  • Make recommendations regarding go/no-go decision-making.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, QA/QC, ethics, and compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the work product of the Department.
  • Oversee and manage the process of reviewing drawings, specifications, and all other construction documents. Make senior management aware of design-related problems, completeness of documents, and other potential risks.
  • Develop a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents (including Cymbal DLT’s contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes).
  • Share overall responsibility for developing GMPs, lump sum bids, or other project delivery methods with Project Executive.
  • Ensure date certainty of all deliverables on all estimates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients as needed. Provide market research information for upcoming work for these clients.
  • Oversee the development of the General Conditions/Requirements estimate and review with senior management.
  • Maintain historical data and develop cost trends.
  • Manage and oversee the value engineering process during preconstruction.
  • Collaborate with Business Development in proposal presentations, and in building client and architect/engineer and subcontractor relationships.
  • Collaborate in evaluating and analyzing subcontractor proposals.

May be called upon to perform the duties of a Senior Estimator.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, or similar and a minimum of fifteen years of estimating experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Additional experience in project engineering, field supervision, or purchasing is required. Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
  • Ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect’s requirements.
  • Should demonstrate an imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project.
  • Must have familiarity with contract language and interpretation.
  • Excellent leadership, verbal, and written skills are required.
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs and Cymbal DLT’s estimating software.
  • Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents.
  • Must be able to multitask and meet established deadlines.

Additional Information:

Our office is currently located in Miami and most of our projects are currently in Miami and Broward.

We will be moving our offices to Broward as well, so you must be able to spend most of your time in Broward. We expect to be centered in Broward with projects in Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Miami-Dade County.

Salary commensurate with experience and proven results.
